Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (April 19, 2006) at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston. The Rev. Pat Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Charleston.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stewart was born May 13, 1922, in Coles County, a daughter of William Thomas and Elva Miller Phillips. She married Robert Stewart on Sept. 22, 1942, in Arnold, Mo. He survives.
Survivors also include two daughters, Roberta Tichenor of Charleston and Judy Bennett of Humboldt; two sisters, Lola Wright and Dorothy Beachy, both of Decatur; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Stewart owned and operated a beauty salon in her home for more than 50 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Charleston; Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1592, Charleston; and Illinois Hairdressers Association. She enjoyed knitting, word puzzles, traveling, her flowers and watching Lawrence Welk on television.
