Ilene Louise Holdforth Shelton passed away at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 15th 2012 at North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas and is survived by her husband, Robert Shelton, her daughter, Stephanie Shelton, her son Robert Shelton, and her granddaughters, Natalie Shelton, San Antonio, Texas and Jaleh and Keegan Shelton , both of Portland, Oregon.
She is also survived by her sisters, Nadine Anderson of San Antonio and Arlene Kelly of Pasadena, California and her brother, LeRoy Holdforth of Fredericksburg, Texas.
Ilene was born in Grinnell, Kansas on October 24, 1932 and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Fredericksburg, Texas in 1950. Ilene married Robert on December 18, 1954 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fredericksburg. After their marriage she and Robert lived in many different places following his career with a major oil company. Ilene and Robert returned to San Antonio to retire. Ilene was an active member of the Hunters Creek Garden Club and an avid bridge player.
Ilene will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Saturday April 21st at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Fredericksburg, Texas (303 w. San Antonio St.)
Graveside services and interment will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Fredericksburg, Texas.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the St. Mary's School Endowment Fund, or to the charity of one's choice.
