Robert DeWitt Shelton passed away on Friday November 25th and was preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife of 58 years, Ilene Louise Shelton.
He is survived by his children, Robert Charles Shelton and Stephanie Ilene Shelton as well as his granddaughter, Natalie Marie Shelton, all of San Antonio.
Robert was born in Detroit, Michigan and lived in Plymouth, Michigan until he graduated from high school in 1948.
After high school, Robert attended college at Ford College in Dearborn, Michigan but left after two years to enlist in the U.S. Air Force where he served until 1955 when he married Ilene Louise Holdforth of Fredericksburg, Texas.
Robert then began a career with Sinclair Refining Company merged later into the ARCO Corporation, where he moved many times as he rose thru the ranks until retiring in 1985 as Manager of the Natural Gas Liquids Division.
Robert and Ilene then moved to San Antonio where they lived in a large home until Ilene died in April, 2012. Robert then moved into the penthouse at The Wurzbach Tower where he has lived until death.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday November 28th at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home of Fredericksburg.
Private interment of Cremains will be held at a later date in the Greenwood Cemetery alongside his wife.
The Family will greet friends on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Christian Children’s Fund, or to the charity of one’s choice.
