Born in Easton, KS the son of Leo and Stella (Hasty) Collins. On July 22, 1946, in Leavenworth, KS he married Dorothy M. Blaser. She survives him at the home. Lester served in the US Armuy Air Corps during World War II, where he was a telegraph operator. He worked at Fort Leavenworth as a carpenter and retired after 33 years of service. He later went to work for USD 449 in Easton for four years as a painter. He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of the American Legion No. 225 and the National Rifle Association. Lester enjoyed shooting blue rock and hunting. Lester leaves his wife of 58 years, Dorothy M. Collins, of the home; two daughters, Carol Cain, Topeka, and Lynette Day, Easton; one son, Gene L. Collins, Easton; two brothers, Leo Collins, Jr.. and Francis Collins, both of Easton; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and William Collins; and a grandchild, Elicia Jean Collins.
