On July 22, 1946, Dorothy married Lester O. Collins in Leavenworth, Kan. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2004. She was also preceded in death her parents; two sisters, Louise Cade and Frances Hyde; two brothers, Jack Blaser and Jim Blaser; and a granddaughter, Elicia Collins.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Carol Cain of Topeka, Kan., and Lynette (J.L.) Day of Easton, Kan.; a son, Gene (Machelle) Collins of Atchison, Kan.; grandchildren, Johnathan (Allison) Day, Amanda (Andrew) Horn, Carrie Anne Robertson, Tracy (Ted) Claiborne, Aimee (Kevin) Wattenbarger, Christopher Cobleigh, Alicia Cobleigh, Courtney Birkinsha, Kevan Birkinsha, Gene Collins Jr., Brandt Collins, Cherrie L. (Scott) Robertson and Roy A. Cain; 17 great-grandchildren and three on the way.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2017, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral home. A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Easton Cemetery. Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
