Elsie L. (Blaser) Cade, 95, of Lansing, passed away September 12, 2016. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, September 15th at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, September 16th at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice Care.
Elsie was born March 15, 1921 in Leavenworth County, Kansas to John and Elsie Frieda Blaser. A lifelong resident of the Greater Kansas City area, Elsie graduated from high school in Leavenworth. She focused on taking care of her home and family. Elsie married Kenneth Cade on April 16, 1983 and enjoyed helping him with his woodcrafting that he donated his products to local charities. She enjoyed sewing, word searches, going on drives to view barns and the autumn leaves. Elsie was a very positive person and was an excellent whistler. Her cooking was exceptional; her potato salad, stuffed green peppers and "No Peek" Chicken were the best.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth Edwin Cade, her former husband, Joseph Stanley, and two brothers and one sister.
Elsie is survived by her children, Anthony Steinmetz (Doris), John Steinmetz (Nancy), Anita Hamstreet (John), David Stanley, Van O'Brien, Lynn (Scott Coulson), and Denita Stanley; her sister, Dorothy Collins; as well as eighteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
