John Braithwaite was born in Manti, Sanpete, Utah, the son of Robert Braithwaite and Harriet Amelia Beemus.

John lived in Utah and California. He learned shoe making and how to make batting for quilts and rolls for spinning yarn from his father. In his early life he enjoyed going to school, writing a little poetry, playing the harmonica or piano, singing and participating in plays. John became a carpenter, then architect and contractor in California and Utah. He was a member of the Self-culture Club.

He married Elnora (Ella) Chisholm on April 15, 1903 in Spanish Fork, Utah. She died in 1951. Retired building contractor. Active LDS.

John Braithwaite, 80, 2988 Metropolitan Way (3165 South), died Saturday, 6:15 p.m. at 705 East 27th South of natural causes.

Survivors: sons, daughters, Victor, Mrs. Robert K. (Ruth) Anderson both SaltLake City; Mark, John C., Mrs. Jene (Dale) Sharp, Mrs. Charles (Mabel) Downing, all Long Beach,Calif; 28 grandchildren, 8 great grand children. Funeral Thursday noon, 36 E. 7th South, where friends call Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. Thursday prior to services. Burial, Spanish Fork
Graveside services Thursday 3 p.m. at the Spanish Fork Cemetery.

08. June Lavon Braithwaite, b. June 24, 1920 in Spanish Fork. Married Daniel Thomas Greenig, Jr. d. October 17 1943.

09. John Chisholm Braithwaite, b. February 28, 1923 in Spanish Fork. Married Myrtle Josephine Martin. D.

He married and divorced Myrtle Thayne Arnold. He died in Salt Lake City, Utah and was buried May 17, 1962 in Spanish Fork
