Philo B. Edwards, aged 67 years, a pioneer resident of Rice County, died Tuesday evening, September 7, at the home of his sister, Mrs. O. P. Smith, in this city. Mr. Edward was injured recently in a fall but was on the gain and was up and around. He was sitting in a chair and reading a newspaper when death came. Philo Beardsley Edwards was born March 3, 1848, near Cleveland, Ohio. In 1865 he moved to Rice County, purchasing a farm three and a half miles east of Faribault. Mr. Edwards is survived by a widow, one daughter, Cora Lucille Edwards, of Faribault; three sons, Jerrold Conlin, of Faribault, Ira Samuel of Carthage, Mo., and Roy Charles, of Garces, Arizona; by three sisters, Miss Polly Edwards, of Hiram, O., Mrs. Mary Hathaway, of Pomona, Cal., and Mrs. O. P. Smith, of this city, and two brothers, Charles Edwards of Ashland, Wis., and George Edwards, of Los Angeles. The funeral was held at 2 P. M., Thursday, from the Baptist church, Rev. True, pastor, officiating.
