Mrs. Edith S. Tarver, 102, of North Augusta

Mrs. Edith Stokes Tarver, 102, widow of Theodore Geddings Tarver, died Sunday.
Born in Williamsburg County, she was a daughter of the late Flavius Josephus and Ellen Dora Parker Stokes. She was a charter and the oldest member of the Augusta Women's Club and a member of the board of the Mary Warren Home in Augusta. She was one of the founders of the PTA organizations in Augusta schools and was active in the beginning of the Girl Scouts program. She served on the Scouting Council in Macon, Ga., and was an active member of the Suffragettes and the Outing Club.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Elisabeth T. Thurmond of North Augusta, Mrs. Edith T. Wallenburg of Aiken and Mrs. Grace T. DuBose of Edgefield; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Posey's Funeral Home of North Augusta, with burial in Westover Memorial Park in Augusta.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
