Funeral services will be held this morning (Wednesday) at the Presbyterian Church in State Center for Mrs Clifford (Marian) West, 72, who died suddenly Monday morning, August 20, in her home. Rev Mary Hendrickson will officiate the services and burial is to follow at Hillside cemetery.
Born November 9, 1906 at Hudson, the daughter of Dr Edwin and Margaret Miller McMillan. She moved to State Center as an infant and lived with her uncle and aunt, Walter and Nellie Brimhall following the death of her mother. She graduated from State Center High School and later graduated from Grinnell College. She then taught school in Colfax and moved to State Center following her marriage on June 10, 1931 in State Center to Clifford West.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a one time deaconess of the church. She was a member of the Eastern Star, PEO and had been in the past, active in community affairs.
Survivors include her husband, four children, James C West, State Center; Margaret (Mrs Will) Johnson, Crystal Lake, Illinois; David West, Roscoe, Illinois and Richard West, Lincoln, Nebraska and six grandchildren. Also three sisters, Annette Wilharn, Excellsior, Minnesota, Jane Kaskadden, Indianola and Georgiana Bowels, Carlisle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
