Married Kate T. Fogherty May 1887 in Gold Hill, Storey county.

1900 census, Gold Hill, Storey county, Nevada: Joseph Kinnikin, 40 (August 1860), Missouri (Delaware/Georgia), married 13 years, miner; Kate, 30 (March 1970), Nevada (Ireland/Ireland), married 13 years; Luvene, 10 (February 1890); Marvin, 7 (October 1892); Mildred, 4 (February 1896); William, 2 (February 1898); children all Nevada (Missouri/Nevada).

Cause of death was defect in heart.

He died of pneumonia on Dec. 9th 1903 at age 45 and was laid to rest in the Catholic Section of the Virginia City Cemetery. His wooden Grave marker is still quite readable after 101 years.
