Apolonia "Pauline" M. Batker, 82, of Shantytown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2012, at her home with her family by her side and while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Serrvices.

Pauline was born on January 22, 1930, in the town of the Bevent, to the late Frank an Mary (Zolondz) Wierzba. She attended Polk school. Her marriage to Ernest Betker took place on August 23, 1947 at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Bevent. They lived in Milwaukee for a time and then settled on their farm in Shantytown.

Pauline and Ernest retired from farming in 1994. She was a master of many trades, including living her faith, being a mother and grandmother, cooking meals for many family members, even taking them in when they needed help. She also took great pride in farming and her garden, providing many bouquets of flowers ti the church. She enjoyed, sewing, crocheting and crafting. She was a member of the St. Ladislaus rosary society for over 50 years.

She is survived by her husband, Ernest, son, Daniel (Rita) Betker, daughters, Lorraine (Paul) Theisen, Carol (John) Wojcik, Diane Pliska and Janice Laskowski. Sisters, Clara Kurszewski and Maryann Singer. Brother, Frank (Jeanette) Wierzba, Sister-in-law, Bernice Wierzba, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by infant son, Ronnie, son-in-law, Thomas Laskowski, brothers, Roman, John and Felix Wierzba, Sisters, Helen Lewandowski, Alvina Kurszewski, Sister-in-laws, Margie Wierzba and John Wierzba. Brother-in-laws, Nick Kurszewski, Florian Lewandowski, Louis Singer and Elias Kurszewski.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Bevent, with the Rev. Augustine Bentil officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00am until time of service at the church. St. Ladislaus rosary society wil pray the rosary at 9:30am Thursday at the church.
