Roman B. Wierzba Sr., 84, town of Bevent in Marathon County (Rosholt), died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at the Portage County Health Care Center in Stevens Point.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Torun, with the Rev. Wesley Janowski officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and at the church from 9 a.m. Saturday until the Mass. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A memorial will be established in his name at a later date in lieu of flowers.

Mr. Wierzba was born Feb. 22, 1925, in the town of Bevent in Marathon County, a son of the late Frank and Mary (Zolondz) Wierzba.

He was married to Bernice Klopotek on Sept. 27, 1947, at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fancher.

He worked in commercial construction for 40 years at Hoffman Construction, Ellis Stone and Consolidated Construction before his retirement. During that time, he also farmed in the town of Bevent.

Survivors include his wife, town of Bevent; one son, Roman Jr. (Laurie), Waukesha; three daughters, Karen (Gary) Jastromski, Amherst, Beverly (Jim) Krusick, Custer, and Suzanne (Curt) Giese, Rosholt; three sisters, Clara Kurszewski and Pauline (Ernest) Betker, both of Rosholt, and Mary Ann Singer, Custer; one brother, Frank Jr. (Jeanette), Rosholt; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Conrad; two brothers; and two sisters.
