Berthol O. Garrett

Berthol O. Garrett, 80, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 13, in St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. He was a retired farmer, having lived his entire life in the Kinmundy area.
Bert was born Jan. 9, 1891, the son of James and Ella (Lansford) Garrett. On April 23, 1910, he was united in marriage to Ruby Doolen, who survives. Survivors besides the widow are five sons, Carroll, Patoka; Bill, Jack and Floyd, all of Kinmundy; and B.J. Garrett of St. Peter; three daughters, Mrs. Carl (Irma) Headley, Lansing, Mich.; Mrs. Ed (Norma) Shreffler, Carrier Mills; Mrs. Neal (Wanda) Brasel, Miami, Florida; 34 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank, of Alma; and one sister, Mrs. Esta Robb, Kinmundy, also survive. One daughter, Cleda, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 15, at 2 p.m. from the Wesley Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Edwards of Mascoutah officiating. Burial was made at Sandy Branch Cemetery.
