Mrs. Elizabeth Griffin, who had been a resident of this town since childhood, died at the insane asylum near Indianapolis, on Friday last, where she was taken for treatment several months ago. She had recovered her right mind, when, about 2 weeks ago, she was taken down with acute meningitis, from which disease she died. She was 62 years of age, and was brought back here for interment, the funeral taking place at 10 a.m. on last Monday from her late residence. Rev. John W. Parrett performed the last sad rites after which her remains were taken to the Highfill Cemetery for burial, 3 1/2 miles south of town. Mrs. Griffin was a generous hearted lady, and always tried to live a consistent Christian life. No one in town was more ready to help a person in distress, or wait on the sick than the deceased. She had some noble traits of character, and we believe will be rewarded with a happy home beyond the skies.
