Services for Mrs. Elsa Anne Schnabel, 87, will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the family residence 2375 SW Park Pl. Mrs. Schnabel, one of the oldest living alumnae of Mills College died Thursday. She was born in Portland Aug. 27, 1874, the eldest child of Charles E. Smith, pioneer iron founder. In her early girlhood, she attended private schools in Dresden, Berlin and Paris. She was a life member of the First Unitarian Church, a former vice president of the Congress Hotel Co., and for many years was active in work of the Children's Home. Survivors include a daughter, Katherine Elizabeth O'Neill, Carmel, Calif.; a son, Charles Holbrook Schnabel, and a sister, Mrs. Helen Smith Besson, both of Portland; three brothers, Stanley C. E. Smith, Portland; Walter G. E. Smith, Longbranch, Wash/. amd Charles E. Smith, Seaside; two grandchildren, Mrs. Barry Parsons, Tewkesbury, England, and Capt. Edward A. S.
