My Grandmother read her bible thru once every year. She taught her children from it on the "Sabbath" Friday night as she was a 7th Day Adventists. IT was said that area ministers came to her to ask her questions about the bible. She didn't attend her own church because there was no 7th Day Adventist church near her. She was an artist at making quilts. She went to quilting bees with friends and taught others how to make the more difficult patterns. She loved to sing Hymns. When she moved to Ballard Co, Kentucky her brother Charlie Beck came to see her. He had a wonderful singing voice and they sang during his visit all the old hymns.

She insisted on moving to Ballard Co, because all her children had malaria from living near the swamp. She lived only about five years after the move and was bedridden for about two years before she died. From knowing her boys I know that she taught them family values and sticking by one another and helping family when ever you could. None of her boys ever said anything bad about her ever. The all loved and respected their mother.
