Born December 6, 1920 in Clay County, Arkansas to Eugene U. and Mary Francis (Beck) Miller, he married Marguerite Jacobson in 1959 in Canton. She died in 1978 in Glasford. He then married Edith M. Ziegenbein on July 13, 1979 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, William Peter Miller of Seattle, Washington and Charles Noble (Jill) Miller, II of Lebanon, Tennessee; three step-children; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Mary Virginia Miller of Glasford. He is also survived by his dog, Skippy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters, and five step-children.
He served in the United States Army during World War II, and attained the rank of Corporal. He served at Pearl Harbor in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Glasford American Legion Post #35.
Charles was a blow rigger and pattern designer for Caterpillar, Inc. for 34 ½ years, retiring on August 1, 1980.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, playing cards and visiting with friends.
Charles was of the Protestant faith.
His graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at Lancaster Cemetery in rural Glasford. Chaplain Ron Little will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
