On 5-8-1786 he received a land grant for 39.6 ac. of land on the Hico River in Caswell Co. NC

He is shown as having purchase land by deed book "B" pa.116(in Archives Raleigh)& sold land by deed as recorded in book "B",p.390

He served in the Indian Wars against the Chickamauga Indians under Brigadier Gen. Joseph Martin. For this service he received Certificate No.1616,dated 3-1792.

On 11-3-1795 Ashburn, according to Knox Co.Tn. deeds I,p.148,rec.247 acres from Gresham Moore for $500.
According Tennessee Gov. John Sevier's Journal under a date in 1799, Anderson Ashburn made the governor a gift of a "pepper tree"
