Chester Clyde Waters, 76, a former Linn County resident, died May 24 in Naples, Florida, following a long illness.
Born February 1, 1908, at Paris, Iowa, he moved to Chicago in the late 1920s and attended the Chicago Art Institute. He was employed for many years by the A & P Co. He married Lura N. Crosby on January 12, 1934, at Chicago, and in 1942 they moved to Cedar Rapids, where he was in the real estate business and worked as a builder and carpenter. They retire to Florida in 1968. He was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Florence Denbow of Los Alamos, New Mexico, and Margaret Parmer of Albuquerque, New Mexico; five grandsons; two brothers, Merle of Marion and Tom of Coggon; and a sister, Melissa Beebe of Central City.
