Nellie Louise Hutcherson was born near Shackleford, Missouri on 12/15/1909. She was the 7th of seven children of Edwin and Mamie Hutcherson. She attended elementery school at Sunnyside School, high school at Marshall High School, and graduated from Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri.
After graduation, she taught at Southeast Elementary School in Marshall. She and a friend took a trip to Los Angeles in 1938 where she met the brother of her friend, Clifton Craig (a Los Angeles police officer). She married Cliff on 12/31/1938. She worked in an ammunition plant during World War II. A daughter Carol Ann was born in 1944. Carol has 3 children; Lori, Kimberly, and Jason. Mrs. Craig also has 6 great grand children and one great great granddaughter.
After Cliff's retirement, they moved to Stanislaus County, California. She taught elementery school in Modesto, CA. After her retirement she moved to Marin County, CA.
