Edna Lorine Hutcherson Blackburn was the sixth of seven children of Edwin M. and Mary Lacy (Mamie) Hutcherson. It is not known where she attended school, but she taught at Malta Bend Public Schools for 3 years before her marriage. The 1930 Census shows her living with the Baker family as a boarder while she was teaching. She also worked as Christmas seasonal help and as a personal secretary for the Kansas City School District. She spent many hours volunteering with her son's Boy Scout organization and as part of a group that did catering to raise funds for that organization. She died while undergoing a gall bladder operation due to a previously unknown Adrenalin Gland cancer when her son Bob was 14 years old. Her first son was William Earl Blackburn Jr. (1939-2009).

A wedding, which will be of interest to many Saline County friends, was that of Mr. Earl Blackburn and Miss Edna Hutcherson, who were quietly married Saturday, August 29 at Liberty, Mo.

The bride, who is the daughter of Mr.Edwin M. and Mary Lacy Hume Hutcherson of near Marshall, is endowed with womanly graces and possesses the attri¬butes necessary for a. happy home life. She was a successful teacher, having taught in the Malta Bend public schools three years, at which place their romance had its beginning.

The groom is the son of Mr. Frank (deceased) and Mrs. Mary Blackburn of Malta Bend, and is a young man of honor and integrity, who will be a fitting companion for the one of his choice.

They are at home to their friends at their apartment at 4025 Walnut, Kansas City, Mo.

On Monday Mesdames E. D. Walker and P. A. Stahl gave a shower for the bride at the home of Mrs. Walker. Twenty-four guests, relatives and close friends, were present.

The presents were delivered to Mrs. Blackburn in Bobby Stahl's wagon, which was decorated in yellow. Little David Fulton, dressed as Cupid, stood in the basket which contained them, and Bobby pulled the wagon in and presented the presents to her, which she took to the dining room and opened. Refreshments, consisting of sandwiches, potato chips, salad and fruit drinks were served.
