SHELBYVILLE - Harold Wayne Armstrong, 83, of Shelbyville died at 8:24 a.m Friday (Feb. 3, 2012) in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Care Center, Mattoon. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today (Feb. 6) in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with his son, Daniel, officiating. Flag presentation will be by the Shelby County Honor Guard. He was born Aug. 12, 1928, in Shelby County the son of Robert and Faye (Lewis) Armstrong. He married Greneda Gilbert in 1954; she survives. Other survivors include one son, Daniel Armstrong of Mt. Auburn; four daughters, Diane Tucker of Cowden, Debra Armstrong of Sullivan, and Donna Taylor and Gail Enright, both of Shelbyville; two brothers, Forest Armstrong of Florida and Max Armstrong of Shelbyville; six sisters, Maude Baldwin of Charleston, Pat Bealeshkia of Champaign, Jessie Polley of Decatur, Marion Lorton of Riverton, Glenna Taylor of Cowden and Eileen McElroy of Alabama; eight grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Mr. Armstrong served in the U.S. Army. He was involved in farming and construction work. He was a member of the Cowden Christian Church, American Legion and Local 1262. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Shelbyville, or the Palm Terrace Nursing Home, Mattoon.
