Gerneda G. Armstrong, 79, of Shelbyville passed away at 6:54 p.m. Saturday (January 10, 2015) at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles Co.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville with her son, Pastor Daniel Armstrong officiating. Private family burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Shelbyville.
She was born December 28, 1935 in Stonington the daughter of Robert Cecil and Phyllis (Sutton) Gilbert. She married Harold Wayne Armstrong June 4, 1954 in Taylorville and he preceded her in death February 3, 2012.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Shelbyville and formerly employed as a CNA at the Shelby Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed quilting and was dedicated to her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are daughters, Diane Tucker of Cowden, Donna Taylor and Gail Enright of Shelbyville and Debra Armstrong of Sullivan; son, Daniel Armstrong of Mt. Auburn; brother, Eugene Gilbert of Moweaqua; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 sisters.
