Joseph A. Barna, age 70, of Levittown, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003 in Chandler Hall Hospice.

Born in Wilkes Barre, Pa., Mr. Barna had been a resident of Bensalem for many years before moving to Levittown five years ago.

Mr. Barna was a founding member of the Alpha House, which was dedicated to helping people with chemical addictions; he was a longtime employee of the Livengrin Foundation as a chemical addiction counsellor. He later retired as the Director of Volunteers Services at the Livengrin Foundation. He was on the Board of Directors for Good Friends. He was also an Army Veteran of the Korean War 109th Artillery.

Mr. Barna is survived by his former wives, Alice and Joan, five children, David and his wife Veronica, Joseph and his partner Kenneth, Karen, Elizabeth, and Carol and one granddaughter, Susan.

Friends will be received at the James O. Bradley Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Bellevue Ave., Penndel, Pa. on Monday from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Barna's memory may be made to the Livengrin Foundation, 4833 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, Pa. 19020 or to Chandler Hall Hospice, 99 Barclay St., Newtown, Pa. 18940.
