1870 census: no longer with her parents and we are looking for her to be listed as she was traveling with Fred Gerling and her sister by her marriage in 1871 heading to Oregon.

Story told by her brother in law Fred Gerling:
"After visiting my folks in Germany I came back to the United States. I stopped in Wisconsin and in August 1871 was married there to Miss Mary Mohle. My wife's sister (Sophia) worked in Chicago. She wanted to come west so I bought tickets for myself my wife and my wife's sister and we came on the train to San Francisco. The tickets cost $118 each. From San Francisco we came by boat to Portland and then up the Columbia by river boat to Celilo, where I took over my job as foreman of the warehouse. My wife's father (and Sophia's father Wilhelm Mohle) came to Portland in 1872 and bought a place on which the suburb of Montavilla is built. He ran a dairy farm there. ( in other records later mentioned Mount Tabor Dairy?- Kristie I am still looking into more info about their dairy farm in Portland Oregon area, the Wilhelmina Mohle house they lived in at the time of the parent's death is still standing)
