Mary Louise Burks Alsup, age 96, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, GA. She was a native of Grundy County but lived most of her life in Rutherford County. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Edwin Alsup; parents, Benjamin H. and Beulah White Burks; brothers, Harold, Paul and William Burks and sisters, Juanita Archer and Jean Dyer. She is survived by her son, Claude Edwin (Eddy) Alsup Jr. of Murfreesboro; daughter, Mary Ann Alsup Conklin of Lawrenceville, GA; sister, Dorothy (Don) Montel of Ohio; sister-in-law, Edna Burks of Nashville; grandchildren, Susan Kennedy, William Edwin Alsup, John Lewis Ortiz and John Peyton; great-grandchild, Joy Armstrong and great-great-grandchildren, Tara and Samantha Maxwell. A Chapel service for Mary will be held at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012 with Dr. Lenny Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with family and friends serving as Pallbearers.
