Thomas G. Arndt Minonk- Thomas G. Arndt, 69, of Minonk, IL passed away at 1:01 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal, IL. He was born on July 5, 1939 in Rutland, IL a son of Henry and Anna Stimac Arndt. He married Edith A. Timmerman on September 2, 1961 in Rutland. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Mark Arndt of Bloomington; two daughters, Lynne (Jeff) Tarmann of Minonk; Amy Arndt of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Andy (Crystal) Arndt of Bloomington; Jamie (Justin) Gale; Alyssa Tarmann; Justin Arndt; all of Minonk; two great grandchildren, Joselyn and Jaylen Gale; three brothers, Fred Arndt; Bill (Harriet) Arndt; John (Bonnie) Arndt; all of Rutland; five sisters, Carol (Bill) Blair; Barbara Arndt; Mary (Leroy) Kerns; Eva Carvish; all of Rutland; Pat (Ron) Franklin of Spring Valley; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. He worked for the Snyder family and Snyder Corporation for over 40 years. Tom was best known by his nicknames "Lefty" and "PI". He always had a great sense of humor and witty personality. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a Little League baseball coach, an avid Cubs and Bears fan, and a season ticket holder for the Peoria Riverman since 1991. Tom held memberships with the MDR Booster Club, Minonk City Council, Minonk Ambulance Squad, and Sons of the Legionaires. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Minonk where funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, November 7, 2008. Father Luke Poczworowski will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk. Burial will be in Riley Cemetery in Rutland, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or the Minonk Food Pantry.
