Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, at the United Church of Christ for Mrs. Margaret B. Burkel, 70, of 826 Washington, who died Aug. 8. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert G. Hermann. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Mrs. Burkel died from injuries received in an auto accident while in Canada with her husband and son.

Mrs. Burkel was born at West Point, Neb., July 26, 1888, the daughter of N.A. and Sadie Buehrle Bassman. In Nov. 1916, she was married to Louis A. Burkel, who survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Frederick Burkel, New York City, N.Y., and L.A. Burkel, Jr., Portales, N.M.; one daughter, Mrs. Jean Beach, St. Louis; three sisters, Mrs. C.W. Gordon (Amanda), Grandview, Miss Sadie Bassman, Jefferson City, and Mrs. Helen Schwartz, Jefferson City; three brothers, Arthur A. Bassman, Fred Bassman, and Winnie Bassman, all of Jefferson City; and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Burkel was a member of the United Church of Christ, president of Elizabeth Steininger Circle of her church and a member of Charles E. Still Hospital Guild.
