Susan Askew

Aged Lady Dead

Mrs. Susan Askew, mother of Mr. W. J. Askew died at her home 3.4 miles south of town Monday ______ of an illness of twenty-three days ____ stomach _____ and ______ _____ aged 86 years. She was buried in the Presbyterian cemetery Tuesday. Mrs. Askew was one of the oldest residents of Williamson County. She was born in North Carolina and moved to Tennessee where she came with her husband to Texas and to Williamson County in 1850. _____ is when Round Rock now is where they lived for a few and then moved to Bastrop County. After two years residence, then they returned to Williamson County and settled on the farm where she died. Her husband died 5 or 6 years ago. She has one son, W. J. Askew and five daughters, Mrs. Mary Purcell, Mrs. C.C. Hodges, Mrs. F.H. Brinklum and the Misses Tennie and Josie Askew. All live in this county except Mrs. Hodges who is in Burnet. The deceased lady was a member of the Round Rock Presbyterian Church, a devout Christian and a loving mother. She has gone to her reward.
