Gray Court, Feb. 2 - Lanny Hill, 65, well-known Gray Court farmer, died at his home following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Friendship Baptist Church near Gray Court by Dr. Lancaster of Laurens and the Rev. W. B. Thorne of Drayton. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mamie Brazil Hill; two brothers, Sam Hill of Gray Court and Ernest Hill of Spartanburg; six sisters, Mrs. C. P. Barksdale of Sumter, Mrs. Minnie Tinsley of Clinton, Mrs. J. F. Stroud of Drayton, Mrs. C. H. Sims of Spartanburg, Mrs. Lem Penland of Barksdale Station and Mrs. Dora Owens of Spartanburg. Nephews will be pallbearers. (Herald-Journal, 1942)
