CARL J. HAMBLOCK , 908 1st Ave., Sterling, passed away at 4 a.m. today in the Community General Hospital after a short illness. The body rests at the Meyer Funeral Home where friends may call. Funeral rites will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. The Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 8 this evening and the Holy Name Society will recite the rosary at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Meyer Funeral Home. Mr. Hamblock was a member of both organizations and also of the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks. Carl J. Hamblock was born March 27, 1883, in Sterling, the son of Peter and Josephine Hamblock. He attended the old Sacred Heart School and Central School. For 40 years he was employed as a railway express messenger by the Chicago North Western Railway, during which time Mr. Hamblock lived in Chicago. He retired nine years ago and returned to Sterling. Surviving are one brother Henry, and one sister Mrs. Theresa Beien, both of Sterling, and a large number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Hamblock was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Mary, Frances, Katherine and Carolyn and three brothers, John, Jacob and William.

STERLING - Carl J. Hamblock, 70, 908 1st Ave., died at 4 a.m. Thursday in Community General hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Hamblock was born in Sterling, the son of Peter and Josephine Hamblock. He was employed in Chicago for 40 years as a railway express messenger for the Chicago and North Western Railroad company. He retired nine years ago and returned to Sterling.

Surviving are a brother, Henry, and a sister, Mrs. Theresa Beien, both of Sterling.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock Friday night in Meyer funeral home, where friends may call.
