HANS L. AHRENDSEN..OLIN
A private family funeral for Hans L. Ahrendsen, 75, was held at St. Paul's United Methodist church, Olin, Saturday, Aug 2, with memorial services later in the morning. Rev. Lloyd Dutro conducted the services.
Mr. Ahrendsen died at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, Wednesday, July 30.
He was born March 1, 1900, son of Hans C. and Dorothea Rohwedder Ahrendsen in Jones County and grew up in the Olin and Hale vicinities.
He attended rural schools in that area and Olin high school. On Jan. 24, 1923, he married Dorothy Laudel at Olin.
After farming for several years in the Olin area, he became a driver for the Crandic Transit System and later for the Greyhound system, working out of the Cleveland, Ohio, area for over 30 years.
Mr. Ahrendsen retired in October 1963, and he and his wife returned to Olin.
He was a member of ancient Landmark Lodge No. 200 AF&AM.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Hans Jr. of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Jerome of Loraine, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Starry and Anita Sarby both of Olin; three brothers, Carl of Olin, Leonard and Arthur, both of Wyoming.
Casket bearers were Lyle Ahrendsen, Leo Ahrendsen, Hans R. Ahrendsen, Richard Ahrendsen, Norman Ahrendsen and Larry Jones.
