Lynn Ross was born on Jan. 17,1905 in Custer Co Okla.,to John N and Maggie Beutler.He married Blanche Anderson on July 13,1940 in the home of Charley Tompkins. They resided in the small rual community of Carpenter, north & east of Elk City til 1993....moving into Elk City Ok.
Lynn and his brothers Elra and Jake started the Beutler Bros Rodeo Co in 1929.Lynn was primarily known as the business manager of the company who secured the contracts with some of the largest rodeos in the United States,until he retired in 1967.
In 1959,Lynn Beuther helped start the "National Finals Rodeo",which has become one of the top sporting events in the country.
In 1969,Lynn was named Rodeo Man of the Year. He has also received awards for 42 years of service at the New Mexico State Fair Rodeo,44 years of service at the Elk City Rodeo of Champions and for 40 years of service to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
In 1988, Lynn Beutler was given one of rodeo's higest honors by being inducted into the Cowboy Hall of Fame's Rodeo Hall Fame. He was one of the original inductees in the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association's Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs, Colo.,and in 1989 was given the "Citizen of the West" award at Las Vegas Nv.,during the National Finals Rodeo.
Lynn was a member of the Western Okla. Historical Society,Elks Lodge of Elk City,the Masonic Lodge # 182.He served as a member of the Rodeo Foundation Committee,the Rodeo Advisory Committee, a GOLD card member of the P.R.C.A.,the first stock contractor representative for the National Finals Rodeo and served on the National Finals Rodeo Commission for 14 years.
Lynn Beutler died April 29,1999.Services were in the Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev Tom Harguess and long time friend Clem McSpadden officating. He was buried in Fairlawn Cemetery in Elk City Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents,John N and Maggie,four brothers Earl, Elra,Denzil and Jake.Four sisters Ollie White,Bessie Lee, Birdie Hebron, and Eva Hope.
Survivors are his wife Blanche,of the home,and a sister Oma Bishop of Arvada Colo.And a HOST of neices & nephews and MANY MANY friends.
