Howard Eugene Adam, 78, Shelbyville, died on Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal. He was born May 4, 1933, in Indian Creek to Adolph Peter and Anna Montgomery Adam. He married Sue Tungate March 2, 1957, at St. Stephens Catholic Church. She died April 16, 1990. He married Anita Blount Feb. 8, 1997, at Clarence. She survives.

He was a graduate of St. Stephens High School in Indian Creek and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shelbina. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a crew leader for Missouri Department of Transportation for several years at the Shelbyville MoDOT facility. He was a member of the American Legion and St. Mary's Knights of Columbus.

Additional survivors include two children, Severin Eugene Adam and Heather Boyles; three stepchildren, John Hertzler, Lorna Pierce, and Nina Crawford; two brothers, Richard Adam and Martin Adam; one sister, Helen Maher; four grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; six step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandaughter.

He was also preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Burial was in Shelby Memorial Cemetery, Shelbyville, under the direction of Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home, Shelbyville.
