Martin Francis Adam 90 of Quincy, Illinois (formerly of Monroe City, Missouri) passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the Blessing Hospital, Quincy, Illinois.

He was born February 24, 1929 at Indian Creek, Missouri the son of Adolph Peter and Anna Elizabeth Montgomery Adam.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Quincy, Illinois. He graduated from St. Stephens Catholic High School, Indian Creek, Missouri. As a young man Martin helped farm on the family farm in Monroe County, Missouri near Indian Creek. He then served his Country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Martin then co-owned and operated the Gambles Store in Monroe City, Missouri with his brother John Paul Adam. He later moved his family in 1984 to live in the state of Florida living there for a few years. Then they moved to Quincy, Illinois to make their home. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan his whole life. He enjoyed playing bridge and bowling. Martin was crazy about his grandchildren who he enjoyed visiting. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

He married Charlotte Ann Weatherford August 14, 1954 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Shelbina, Missouri, she survives of the home.

Also survived by three sons Steve Adam of Eustis, Florida; Tom Adam (Sarah) of Durham, Missouri and Scott Adam of Quincy, Illinois. Two daughters Vicky Christoffer (Henry) Shelbyville, Missouri and Tracy Pasley (Alan) of Springfield, Illinois. One sister in law Rusty Adam of Monroe City, Missouri. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandchildren Natalie Adam and Quentin Christoffer. 6 brothers John Paul, Melvin, Harold, Glennan, Howard and Richard Adam. 4 sisters Margaret Yager, Lucille Thomas, Theresa Hall and Helen Maher.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 am Friday, November 22, 2019 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Monroe City, Missouri, Fr. Lou Dorn will officiate. Graveside services will be held at the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Monroe City, Missouri. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday evening with a parrish scripture services beginning at 7:30 pm at the Garner Funeral Home, Monroe City, Missouri. Pallbearers will be David Hall, Broderick Bush, Austin Adam, Cameron Christoffer, Tyler Christoffer and Danny Adam. Memorials have been suggested to the Holy Rosary Catholic School, Monroe City, Missouri. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Garner Funeral Home & Chapel, Monroe City, Missouri.
