Richard was born October 14, 1925 in Indian Creek, Missouri to Adolph Peter and Anna Elizabeth (Montgomery) Adam.
He married Lorena A. (Rusty) Farnan on August 12, 1946 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Conception Junction, Missouri. They recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.
A 1943 graduate of St. Stephen High School in Indian Creek, Missouri, he joined the Air Force in January 1944 and attended Michigan State College until June 1944. He graduated from navigation school as a 2nd Lieutenant in Monroe, Louisiana in June 1945 and was discharged in January 1946.
Mr Adam farmed from 1946-47, worked for International Harvester in Monroe City from 1948-53, drove a Standard Oil Truck from 1953-57, worked as a door-to-door salesman in Columbus, Ohio in 1957 and finally worked as a tool and die maker at Kuhlman Diecasting in Monroe City from 1957 until he retired in 1991.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where he was active as a lector, Eucharistic minister and greeter and the Knights of Columbus for over 70 years, including grand knight at St. Stephen Parish.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Survivors include his wife; 1 daughter; 4 sons; 1 brother; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 am Monday September 14 at the Holy Rosary Church in Monroe City with the Rev. Mike Penn officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Rosary Cemetery.
