FORMER BRIDGETON MAN KILLED
Window Glass Worker at Mt. Jewett, Pa.
HAS A BROTHER HERE
Alexander Cawman, Who Worked Here Formerly - Family Surprised and Shocked at Additional Information
The following letter was received by the Evening News this morning:
Mt. Jewett, Pa, Nov. 4. 9 O'Clock, P. M.
To the Editor of the News.
Alexander Cawman, former Bridgeton man, a window glass worker, was killed on the railroad track here at Mt. Jewett, Pa., about 7 o'clock this evening. I think he has a brother residing on Grove street, Bridgeton, and a sister here in this town. I thought I would send this as news so his people would know.
Frank H. Smallwood.
A News reporter visited his brother. Daniel B. Cawman, at his home on Grove street this morning. He had received no word direct but had had a telephone message from his sister, Mrs. Victoria Purvis, of Rosenhayn. The message told of the death of their brother but did not say anything of an accident or manner of death.
The man was 44 years old and had always been considered strong and rugged. The family were greatly surprised and shocked as they had heard no tidings of illness or failing health. They were also surprised at the information contained in the letter as they had received no intimation but that he died from natural causes, though knowing it was very sudden.
Mr. Cawman made his home with a half sister in Mt. Jewett. He is well known here, having worked here considerable in the past. His mother is still living and resides with Mrs. Purvis at Rosenhayn.
The funeral takes place at Mt. Jewett tomorrow afternoon. The interment takes place there also though the body may be brought here later.
The family are expecting to hear the full particulars later on and are considerably exercised over the information contained in the letter.
