Frank P. Bowe, age 91, of Northfield and Dundas, died Friday, June 11, 2004, at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault.
Funeral services were held Monday at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Dundas, with the Rev. Carolyn Schmidt, celebrant, and the Rev. Jill Tollefson, deacon, officiating. Interment was at the Groveland Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday at the funeral home and Monday at the church.
Frank Phillip Bowe was born Dec. 16, 1912, in Sciota Township, rural Dakota County, to Lucuis R. and Agnes (Cleland) Bowe. He was united in marriage to Oletta Severson Oct. 9, 1940, at the Dennison parsonage.
Bowe worked on the Ed Thye farm before starting at Carleton College. He was manager of Carleton's dairy farm for 16 years and foreman of Carleton's campus for 10 years.
After his retirement, he did many odd jobs including mowing lawns and cemeteries. Bowe loved gardening, horseback riding, spending time with his grandchildren, singing, and playing the harmonica. He loved his beloved cat, Pringle.
Survivors include his wife, Oletta, of Northfield; two daughters: Colleen (Chester) Goehring and Warren of Inver Grove Heights and Eileen Gruber of Eagan; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one brother, Donald Bowe, of South St. Paul and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Catherine Boudreau, and four brothers: Dean, Dan, Bob and Bill Bowe.
Arrangements were with the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield.
