Father of seven children and two step-daughters
Beloved grandfather who would do anything for his grandchildren. Digging worms and touching the fish for his granddaughters, tolerating tea parties and dressing up, teaching about farm life, raising animals, processing milk, watching soap operas (especially Ryan's Hope), sharing the family's history, teaching how to drive a stick, explaining why Prell was the best shampoo, why baked potato sausage was superior to boiled, why we must read several newspapers a day and how to read them, how dentures work, telling stories about the Hastings "Nut House", and why everyone should love mincemeat pie as much as he. He would take us, individually, down to Phyllis's Inn in Welch for a special sweet treat although we never realized he wanted to sneak away for a beer and smoke.
