Nancy Baker, 64, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Assumption Catholic Church in Granger, with burial to follow at Beaver Catholic Cemetery.


Nancy was born in Des Moines and lived in the Granger area all of her life. She had worked at Casey's in Granger for over 20 years. Nancy enjoyed playing bingo and her many trips to the casino. Her life was enriched by the many people she was fortunate enough to meet. Nancy's passion was her family.


Nancy is survived by her husband of 30 years, Bill, her son Joe (Amy) Liston and her grandchildren, Matt and Megan Liston, all of Blaine, MN and her step-children, Bill (Kelly) Baker and Mike (Vicki) Baker all of Dallas Center, Debbie (Scott) Belcher of Woodward, Jim Baker of Des Moines, and Lori Baker of Mitchellville; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Liston, her parents, Iva and Christopher Canney and her siblings, Patty Shafer, Peggy Hotchkiss and Beverly Steffen.


The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Assumption Catholic Church, where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Granger Little League.
