Deceased Name: Obituary: Nettie Lorraine Hayes 1921 ~ 2003

Nettie Lorraine Cook Hayes, 82, was born in Cedar Valley, Utah on February 24, 1921. She left this life on September 3, 2003 surrounded by her family.

On January 11th, 1941 she married Fred Dean Hayes in Nevada. Later solemnized the union in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was a very loving person to her family and friends. She lived in Cedar Valley until she moved to California where she worked as a nanny, and during World War II, for Douglas Aircraft. She also served as LDS Primary President. She worked for numerous years as a manager in Auerbach's department store.

She and Dean traveled extensively throughout the world, however, like Dean, their home in Bountiful was their favorite and where she was an avid gardener.

Her husband, Dean, whom she missed immensely, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Arthur Hayes (wife Margie) of Salt Lake City; her daughters, Kathryn Hayes-Wurzburg (George), Lorraine Bryan (Roger) and Connie Butterfield (Rod) all of St. George, Utah. She also has seven grandchildren and six great-grand children, three sisters, Leona Bird, Ruth DeBoer and Vivian DuBois; two brothers, Art Cook and Clyde Cook. Many loving nieces, nephews, and friends also survive her. Preceded in death by John and Ernest Cook, LaVerne Creighton and Thelma Pohlman. All who came to know her will sadly miss her, but we know He only takes the best and realize she was needed elsewhere.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful 21st Ward Chapel, 1900 South Orchard Drive, Bountiful. Friends may call Friday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Saturday morning from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
