Quentin H. Kerr, 88, passed away at 12:35 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at Washington Square Nursing Home, Warren.

Mr. Kerr was born in New Bethlehem, Pa., May 16, 1921, a son of William and Mary (Chrissman) Kerr.

He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as part of the 131st Engineers Combat Battalion. Moving to the area in 1955 from Clarksburg, W.Va., Quentin worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for Heckett Engineering, which was a subcontractor for Republic Steel. Mr. Kerr retired in 1985 after 30 years of service.

He enjoyed making abstract artwork from scrap metal, having a display at the Trumbull Art Gallery.

Mr. Kerr married his wife, the former Genevieve Reddinger, in August of 1942. Together they shared 50 years of marriage until her passing in 1993.

Mr. Kerr is survived by his two sons, Quentin C. (Cynthia) Kerr of Howland and Danny L. (Gale) Kerr of Liberty; one sister, June Thomas of Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren, Susan, Lesley, Becky and Danny.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve; his parents; seven sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel, Warren.

The family will be receiving friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Pineview Memorial Park.
