Phoebe Hanold, 88, formerly of Callensburg and Sligo, died Saturday,June 30, 2007, in Parker Personal Care Home where she had resided for the past six months.
Born Sept 22, 1918, in New Bethlehem, she was the daughter of William J. and Mary Catherine Crissman Kerr.
She was valedictorian of her graduating class.
Mrs. Hanold was a member of the Callensburg Church of God.
She was married April 6, 1940, to Leon Hanold, who died May 24, 2004.
Surviving are three daughters and their husbands, Rosalie and Tom Jackson of Parker, Victoria and Bill Showers of Knox and Penny and Larry Gourley of Sligo; six grandchildren, Lynette Slagle and husband, James, of Knox, Melissa Custer of Rimersburg, Paula Haines and husband, Ronald, of Sligo Staci Showers of Knox and Misty Gourley and husband, Damien, of Richmond, Va.,, and Thadd Showers of Knox; and five great-grandchildren, Matthew Slagle, Amber Haines, Tanner Custer, Jeanna Showers and Dillon Haines.
She also is survived by two sisters, Beulla Baines of Clarion and June Thomas of Brookville; and one bother, Quentin Kerr of Warren, Ohio.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hanold was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tara Showers; five sisters, Olive Barrett, Evelyn Earnest, Mary Downs, Laura Cyphert and Ella Smith Varner; and one brother, Vernon Mike Kerr.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Varner Funeral Home in Sligo.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Korona Say, pastor of the Park Hill Church or God in West Freedom, officiating.
Interment will follow in Cedarview Memorial Park near Strattanville
