Services for Jackie Daughdrill Hillman, 55, of Gadsden, Ala., were held Sunday, April 15, 1990, at 2:00 p.m. from Collier-Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Smith officiating.
Burial was in the Crestwood Cemetery of Bessemer, Ala.[sic], With Collier-Butler Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Hillman passed away Friday, April 13, 1990 in the University Hospital, Birmingham, Ala., following a long illness.
He was a native of Leakesville, Miss., and a member of Paden Baptist Church, member of several educational associations and a former member of East Gadsden Civilian Club.
He was a graduate of University of Southern Mississippi and taught school in Laurel, Miss., Bessemer and Gadsden, Ala., before retiring in 1983.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sam J. Hillman, Sr., and his mother, Stella Rae Daughdrill Hillman, of Leakesville, and a brother, James M. Hillman.
Survivors include his wife Ellen Mixon Hillman; a son, Jerry Dean Hillman, both of Gadsden., Ala.; five brothers, Horton Hillman, Rayburn (Tud) Hillman, and Graham Hillman, All of Leakesville, Miss., French Hillman, Mobile, Ala., and Sam J. Hillman, Jr. of Selma, Ala.; two sisters, Mrs. Pal Hicks and Mrs. Marteil Breland, Both of Leakesville. Published in the Greene County (Miss) Herald 1 May 1990.
