Garnet P. “Pal” Hicks, 93, passed away at her home in Leakesville on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Leakesville. She was a retired teacher who enjoyed many years at Picayune and Leakesville. She was also a long-time member of the Three Arts Club and the Leakesville Public Library. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Jackson and Stella Rae Hillman; brothers, Horton, Tete, Todd, Tud, Jack, and Tennie Hillman; and one sister, Martiel Breland.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Roy G. Hicks, Sr.; children, Roy Gene Hicks, Jr. (Katherine), Sam Hicks (Ruth), Pam Posey (Ronnie), and Robert P. Hicks; brother, French Hillman (Betty); 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 2 pm with a visitation prior to the service beginning at 12 pm at Freeman Funeral Home. Interment will be in the McLeod Magnolia Cemetery with Bro. Michael Perry and Dr. Billy Dowdy officiating.
