He was born on May 30, 1913, in Bradner to Benjamin L. and Maude (Garner) Smith. He lived his entire life in the Green Springs area.
Survivors include his wife, the former Vivian Cunningham of Gibsonburg who he married Nov. 8, 1934; three daughters, Jacqueline Zimmerman of Phoenix, Ariz.; Paula Steiger, Old Fort; and Sue Rohrbach, Tiffin; three sons, Norwood "Bud" Smith, Clyde; Robert and Jerry Smith of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a sister, Grace Alcorn of Lodi, Calif.; brothers Richard of Fremont and Virgil of Vaughansville; 14 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
Mr. Smith was a member of Temster Union Local 299 of Detroit.
Calling at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Clyde, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
The fueral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
It was suggested that any memorial tributes be to Community Hospice Care, P.O. Box 160, Tiffin, 44883.
Aunt Vivian was not pleased with Greenlawn Memorial Gardens and had Uncle Dave moved to Pleasant Union Cemetery in Old Fort, Seneca Co., OH.
