George Edward Charlton was born on August 26, 1916 in West Weber, Utah a son of Albert Ray Charlton and Maggie "Nettie" Genett Hogge Charlton. He married Faye Robertson on July 20, 1940 in Farmington, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in May of 1978.

He was a life long residence of Ogden, Utah and attended Weber High School. He was a member of the LDS Church. George worked as a locomotive engineer for the O.U.R.&D. Railroad. He retired after 33 years of service. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge.

George and Faye had two children, Stan G. and Nannette.
