Paul was born on May 14 1864 in Rome, NY, the 4th of 10 living children and moved to Cleveland with his parents, Paul & Mary Ann (Bellman) Bernhard in 1880 at the age of 16. He had eight brothers & two sisters. He appeared in the 1870 & 1875 Rome, NY census with his family.
Paul was 26 when he was married to Ella Pflager on Oct. 23, 1890 in Cleveland by a Rev. C. Streich.
They had one daughter, Bernadine who was born in Feb. 1900.
Paul & Ella appeared in the 1900 Cleveland census living on 82 Portland St. Paul was listed as a salesman in the iron business. They were living on 26 Elsinore St. in the 1910 Cleveland census.
Paul passed away on Oct. 20, 1915 at the Cleveland State Hospital in East Cleveland at age 51. Ella died on Dec. 16, 1923, 8 years after Paul. They are both buried at Lake View Cemetery in Sec. 24, Lot 868.
