Funeral services for Georgia Lizzie Grover, 86, of Langdon, were held Monday at 1:30 in the Warner Chapel. Officiating was the Rev. Manzel Berlin, and interment was in the Dickens Cemetery.
The soloist, Mrs. Delbert Dodge, sang "We Are Going Down in the Valley" and "How Great Thou Art", accompanied on the organ by Peter Lawrence. Rodney Alger, Lyle Grover, Carl Grover, Allen Hockett, Dale Stephas, and Greg Grover were the casket bearers.
Grover was born June 17, 1896 in Fitzgerald, Ga., the daughter of Charlie and Kate Haverfield Miles. Her family later moved to Lake City, and then to Clay County. She graduated from the Lake Center School in 1912.
She married Lewis Grover on Nov. 24, 1913 in Spencer, and they lived in Clay and Dickinson Counties. A member of the Langdon United Methodist Church and the Merry Meadow Club, Grover was a cook at the Gillett Grove school for four years.
Grover died Friday at the Spencer Municipal Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1960; two sons, Howard and Lynn (Bud); one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Hockett; three brothers, Peter, Samuel, and Charles Miles; and three sisters, Eula Smith, Ina Smith, and Elloise Miles.
Survivors include three sons, Russell (Gus), Ervin, and Merle (Mert), all of Langdon; three daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Alger of Graettinger, Mrs. Helen Stephas of Ruthven, and Mrs. Eleanor Daniel of Langdon; 36 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Corrine Thompson of Ruthven and Violette Miles of Lake City.
The Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of the service arrangements.
